Join us on Thursdays for a five-month program that we hope will encourage, support, and nurture more folks to commit to making some meaningful and healthy lifestyle changes!

MITLI 2016

The 2016 program offered a topic of the month, special speakers, exercise, and cooking with the Cooking Matters curricula. Participants lost weight, learned ways to become more active, and continued to maintain healthy habits with support on Tuesdays, from January 5th through June 2016.

MITLI 2015

A total of 314 pounds were lost.
Over a third of participants attended 80% or more of the sessions (and got their $20 registration back!)
BMI decreases ranged from -0.2 to -7.9
Four participants began with normal BMI, and eight ended with normal BMI.

MITLI 2014

HIP’s Move It it Lose It (MITLI) 2014 is now officially over, yet many of the participants have integrated the healthy patterns of eating and exercising they learned and practiced into their lives. Brenda Merritt was a wonderful, inspiring and capable facilitator. We had 45 people sign up, and an average of 25 attending the meetings. There were a total of 248.5 pounds lost and participants lost 1.5 – 4.1% BMI. Congratulations to all who participated! The support of the group is so important in helping to make healthy changes. The extended time frame (from six weeks to six months) was a successful modification. There has been some spillover to our new Active Island Summer Fun Walk/Run/Rides; a quarter of the walker/runners one week were MITLI folks! Think about joining MITLI next winter.
